According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of aestheticians and other skin care specialists was projected to rise 38%, which is much faster than the average for the period 2008-2018. This expected growth is partly due to the popularity of skin care treatments for medical and general well-being. Also according to the BLS, those working in medical and surgical hospitals were among the highest-paid skin care specialists, with an hourly mean wage of $19.20 and an annual mean wage of $39,930 in May 2008. Skin care specialists working in physicians' offices earned slightly less, with an hourly mean wage of $18.29 and an annual mean wage of $38,050.
